Jupiter’s Travels: THE worldwide traveler.

I am not Jupiter.  I have never met Jupiter, but because of Jupiter I have been to 5 Continents, more than thirty countries and speak 5 languages.   Although, none to fluently (especially english).   Jupiter also known as Ted Simon ( Jupitalia.com ) drove around the world on a motorcycle in 1970 at the age of 42.  He wrote about his adventures in Jupiter’s Travels.   I can not recommend this book highly enough.  But, beware you may quit your job buy a bike and do the same.   I am writing this from Florianopolis, Brazil.  I don’t own a home.  I no longer make a 6 figure salary.  I don’t even have a car.   But, I live in paradise.

Oh, and if you think you are too old for such foolish ideas… Mr. Simon repeated the trip a few years ago at the age of 70!  It took him 3 years and he wrote another book ( Dreaming of Jupiter ) about it.  Which, to my embarrassment I have not been able to get my hands on yet.  But, I will!

Florianopolis, Brazil paradise south of the equator

Florianopolis, Brazil is described as paradise by the people who live here. It’s the place where Brazilains move to when they get tired of the violence and congestion in the big cities. Called Floripa for short, this island is one of the richest cities in Brazil and has 42 beaches (Inglesas, Praia Mole, Joaquina, Jurrere Internacional are just some of them). It’s a major tourist destination and has something to do for everybody: Kayaking, cycling, rock climbing, scuba diving, paragliding, ocean fishing, trekking, surfing and kite surfing. Also, The New York Times voted Florianopolis THE party destination for 2009.
